Elcel is the Director of Advent Ark Lawyers Limited and a senior practising lawyer specialising in immigration and property law. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) with a focus on communication and critical writing, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland, and has undertaken postgraduate studies in commercial law. Admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand, Elcel was among the first recipients of New Zealand’s formal qualification in Immigration Advice.

Elcel’s immigration practice spans the full spectrum of advisory and contentious matters, including visa applications, waivers, compliance investigations, deportation cases, ministerial interventions and section 61 requests and appeals. She has particular expertise in complex matters involving character and bona fide issues, unlawful status and a broad range of appeals before the Immigration and Protection Tribunal, including residence appeals and matters founded on exceptional humanitarian circumstances. Her practice is defined by rigorous preparation, comprehensive case assessment and strategic advocacy — consistently focused on achieving maximum impact for clients navigating high-stakes legal matters.

In addition to leading the firm’s immigration practice, Elcel oversees property and commercial matters. She advises on residential and commercial conveyancing, refinancing, business acquisitions and commercial documentation. As a member of the New Zealand Law Society Property Law Section with formal training in conveyancing, she is at the forefront of developments in property law and practice.
